In our experience, the Irish Revenue Authorities are engaging in far more audits and investigations of individual and corporate taxpayers.

Typically, such interventions are detailed and time consuming and can give rise to significant tax costs for the client.

Where such interventions are due to take place, we can work with individuals and corporates in the following ways:

• Carry out pre-audit reviews to identify risk issues,
• Assess whether issues identified by Revenue do or do not give rise to a tax liability.
• Where a settlement may need to be reached with Revenue, we are experienced at negotiating such settlements on behalf of clients.
• We also have experience of dealing with Revenue Authorities in other jurisdictions such as the UK, the Isle of Man, the US Inland Revenue and other foreign tax jurisdictions.

If the individual or corporate has an existing advisor, we can also offer a bespoke second opinion or 3rd party view on tax technical issues which arise in the course of the audit or investigation and advise the client and their existing advisor on how any issues identified should be addressed with Revenue.
